This is DEADGRACE’s first tour, and we’re opening for my dear friend, electric violin goddess Mia Asano.

We rehearsed for weeks, running the same set until it was in our bones. The day before, we packed the RV to the max with gear, costumes, shoes and food: a month of life in one rolling box. Then we hit the road out of Los Angeles.

At showtime the drums kicked in, the riffs took off, and the nerves turned into pure energy.

My favorite moment was hearing people in the crowd yell “DEADGRACE!”, plus some hearty hoots and hollers between songs.

It feels so good to finally get this show on a stage, to watch it come alive and feel the crowd’s energy come right back at us.

This is just the beginning.

THE ROOM

The Ritz sits at 400 S. First Street, at San Salvador, in SoFA — the South of First Area, downtown's arts district. It holds about 500 people standing. The building has had more lives than most bands: it opened in 1948 and spent its first years as a movie house called the Gay Theatre, ran as the X-rated Pussycat Theater in the '70s, and in 1989 became F/X, a live music club that helped turn this stretch of First Street into an arts district.

After F/X closed in 1995 it cycled through the Usuals, Spy, Pete Escovedo's Latin Jazz Club, and Angels, then sat dark for years. It came back as The Ritz in 2015: a theater-sized rock club for the kind of touring bands people used to drive to San Francisco or Oakland to see. Not a bad place to start.

Sacramento, Harlow's, the next night. Then Portland, Seattle, Spokane, Salt Lake City, Denver, Grand Junction, Albuquerque, Phoenix, and Las Vegas. Dates and tickets are on the tour page.
