Four hours of driving, and then we rolled up.

The room had cozy vibes. Small but mighty.

There was a Frankenstein hanging on our dressing room door, and he was a special kind of Frankenstein. Halloween decorations filled every corner of the place. Spooky season is in full swing.

Spokane also sent us off with a couple of special gifts.

A new fan gave me a $2 bill for good fortune. She told me it’s connected to someone in her family who plays the sax. I’ll be holding onto that one.

Then the lovely lady working the venue handed each of us a tiny rubber duck. She said they give them to performers they’ve loved working with. Everyone on the team got one, and I picked the green one.

Spokane, thanks for bringing the vibes.

After our set we went and shot some pool.

THE ROOM

The District sits at 916 West 1st Avenue in downtown Spokane, right next door to the Knitting Factory's 1,500-capacity concert house, and Knitting Factory runs both. It opened in February 2013 as an upscale gastropub, a Spokane cousin of The Federal Bar in North Hollywood, and these days it's where the smaller shows land. The show was all ages, doors at 6:30.
